About Yvette
The story behind the braids—a journey from the heart of Congo to your next beautiful style.
From the Heart of Congo to Your Hair
I was born and raised in Brazzaville, the vibrant capital of the Republic of Congo. Growing up, I watched my mother, aunts, and grandmothers gather to braid each other's hair. It was more than styling—it was storytelling, bonding, and preserving our culture one braid at a time.
By the age of 12, I was already braiding for family and neighbors. What started as a cultural tradition became my passion and, eventually, my profession. I brought this art with me when I moved to the United States, determined to share the beauty of African braiding with a new community.
Today, with over 50 years of professional experience, I continue to honor the traditions that shaped me while embracing modern styles and techniques. Every braid I create carries a piece of my heritage and a whole lot of love.

Cultural Pride
Hair braiding is more than a service—it's a tradition passed down through generations. We honor this heritage in every style we create.
Rooted in Tradition, Styled for Today
African hair braiding has a rich history spanning thousands of years. In many African cultures, braided styles carry deep meaning—they can signify age, marital status, wealth, religion, and even tribe. While I've adapted my skills to modern styles and trends, I never forget the cultural significance of this art form.
When you sit in my chair, you're not just getting a hairstyle. You're participating in a tradition that has connected generations of African women—and now, women around the world. That's something truly special.
